Château de Blancafort

An inhabited château open for receptions year-round

Château de Blancafort, a 15th-century fortified house in the Cher beside the Canal de la Sauldre, hires its spaces for weddings, birthdays, baptisms, cocktail receptions, family meals, meetings, general meetings, seminars, filming, photoshoots and rallies. The reception rooms are open throughout the year by appointment. The historic salons suit dinners, family meetings or small assemblies; larger events take place in the outbuildings.

Three connecting rooms and château salons

The outbuildings contain three communicating rooms beneath an upturned-boat-hull roof structure. The current website advertises 250 sqm of modular space. The official brochure still offered for download, dated 2022, details: room 1, 70 sqm, 80 seated or 90 for cocktails; rooms 1+2, 155 sqm, 150 seated or 180 for cocktails; rooms 1+2+3, 250 sqm, 250 seated or 300 for cocktails. Château salons up to 220 sqm are also available by quotation only. These historic figures retain their year and must be reconfirmed.

Grounds, Cour d’Honneur and equipment

The 2022 package includes access to 15 hectares of grounds and gardens, full room lighting without a time limit, tables and chairs for 200 guests, a catering preparation kitchen, parking, heated toilets including an accessible toilet and direct access to the church 200 metres away. A field may accommodate sleeping tents. The 500 sqm Cour d’Honneur is listed for up to 800 cocktail guests in the same brochure; it is a separate space and its capacity is not combined with the rooms.

Prices published in 2022 — update required

2022 prices incl. tax: room 1, €2,790; rooms 1+2, €3,690; all three rooms, €4,950. 2022 options: following day 10 a.m.–7 p.m., €990 (site not exclusively hired); château lighting €290; château, grounds and garden lighting €550; outdoor ambient sound €290; heating €380 per room for eight hours, with extra fuel charged at pump price; full private hire €2,190; Cour d’Honneur €1,990; estate and parking security €240 for eight hours. Prices may change without notice, so a current quotation is essential.

Booking and cancellation terms published in 2022

The brochure requires a 30% incl.-tax booking payment on confirmation and the balance one month before the event. Its cancellation schedule states: no charge up to two months before; €590 retained at one month; booking payment non-refundable at three weeks. Organiser liability insurance is required. These 2022 terms must be confirmed in the current contract.

Catering, accommodation and accessibility

A preparation kitchen is available to the caterer, but caterer choice, menus, dietary needs, allergens, drinks and corkage are not specified and must be contracted. The website mentions a cottage and a field for tents; capacity, beds, rates, breakfast and times are unpublished. An accessible toilet appears in the brochure, but routes and full room accessibility require an on-site check.
