A wedding beside the Ermitage lagoon

In Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, within Saint-Paul on Réunion Island, LUX* Saint Gilles offers spaces for hire for weddings and private receptions. This five-star hotel stands at 28 Rue du Lagon in Ermitage, with direct seafront access. Its Creole-style buildings, tropical gardens and lagoon setting allow a reception and accommodation to be arranged at the same property, subject to the spaces and rooms actually booked.

Spaces, layouts and capacities

The venue-hire offer lists the Orangine, La Cuisine and La Plage restaurants and the Canistelle room; gardens, poolside areas and air-conditioned spaces are also presented for events. A general capacity of 200 is given without a specified layout, so this is not a guarantee of seating for 200 diners. Available figures for the seminar space are 180 theatre-style, 120 classroom-style, 60 U-shaped, 150 for a banquet and 180 for a cocktail reception. These describe that conference configuration, not the sum of all rooms or a contractual wedding capacity.

Selecting the right space

The hotel advertises seven conference rooms with capacity up to 180. Orangine’s current page gives 40 seats; the technical sheet updated in May 2025 gives 120 seats at La Cuisine and 80 at La Plage. The current sheet does not confirm floor areas and individual capacities for every event room. For dinner, dancing, an outdoor ceremony or a wet-weather alternative, request a layout plan and authorised capacity for the exact date and format. Hiring a particular space does not automatically provide exclusive use of the entire hotel.

Food and drinks

La Cuisine serves breakfast and dinner, combining international cooking with Creole, Indian and Chinese influences. Orangine offers à-la-carte dining and French and international wines. La Plage has a wooden terrace beside the lagoon and serves Réunion specialities; Le Bar provides drinks and light food beside the pool. Room service is advertised around the clock. The hotel presents vegetarian and vegan options, but wedding menus, allergens and dietary adjustments must be agreed in the quotation.

Restaurant opening hours and dress code

The current pages give breakfast at La Cuisine from 06:00 to 10:00 and dinner from 19:30 to 21:30; Orangine dinner from 19:30 to 21:30; and La Plage lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner from 19:30 to 21:30. These hours may change and are not permitted wedding-event hours. Reservations are required for Orangine and La Plage. A cover-up over swimwear is requested during the day; smart island attire is required in the evening, without flip-flops or shorts at dinner, and men should wear trousers in the à-la-carte restaurants.

On-site rooms and suites

The property advertises a total of 174 rooms and suites. Categories are Superior, 34 m², on the ground floor facing the gardens, for up to two adults and one child; Deluxe, 36 m², with a garden-facing balcony, for up to two adults and one teenager; Junior, 46 m², for up to two adults and one child; and Family, 68 m², for up to four adults and two teenagers. Confirm bed arrangements, connecting rooms and cot availability when booking. The number of units must not be converted into a guaranteed number of wedding-guest beds.

Comfort and stay arrangements

Room amenities include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, television, minibar, safe and bathroom. The technical sheet gives check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 11:00; the booking’s specific terms take precedence. Four rooms are listed as wheelchair-adapted. Rooms, meals, treatments and additional services are not assumed to be included in event hire: confirm the room allocation, nightly rate, taxes and cancellation terms for each service.

Accessibility, parking and transport

Accessibility information updated in May 2025 reports parking with adapted spaces and an outside approach at least 90 cm wide, but with one ascending step that is not secured, followed by a level entrance and possible human assistance. Reception is close to the entrance, with a level internal approach, and adapted toilets are listed. Hearing-assistance equipment is not reported as available. Confirm access to the chosen room, gardens and bedroom for each guest’s particular requirements.

Getting to the venue

The car park has electric-vehicle charging points and a bicycle parking area beside the security building at the entrance. The contact page lists Bruniquel, Filaos Saint-Gilles and La Saline-les-Bains bus stops, and an airport connection on route T. Check routes and timetables for the wedding date; no included private shuttle is advertised. Families, relaxation and activities

The resort has a large pool and a children’s pool; the July 2024 photographs show the facilities at that time and do not guarantee their present condition. According to the current page, PLAY kids’ club welcomes children aged three to eleven: confirm opening hours, operating periods and reservations rather than treating it as wedding childcare included in the price. The hotel offers a wellness area, massages, yoga and fitness. Tennis, table tennis, pétanque and beach volleyball are also listed among the leisure activities. Helicopter excursions, hiking, diving and lava-tunnel visits are arranged separately, subject to availability and conditions.

Prices and booking conditions

Wedding venue hire is quoted individually, with no guaranteed public rate or confirmed minimum guest count. Request an itemised quotation separating spaces, meals, drinks, staff, furniture, technical equipment, accommodation and any extras. External caterers, DJs and photographers, corkage, music hours, decoration, cleaning, security deposit, advance payment and postponement terms must be settled in the contract; silence on the pages consulted does not imply permission or free provision.

Payment and cancellation: hotel stays versus weddings

American Express, Visa and Mastercard are listed for hotel bookings. The website terms provide for a bank-card guarantee and arrangements that depend on the rate; requests for groups of more than seven rooms are handled by the reservations team. For prepaid stays at LUX* Saint Gilles, changes or cancellation without charge are advertised until fourteen days before arrival, after which the full stay is charged, including for a no-show, subject to the rate’s specific conditions. This stay policy does not replace the contractual cancellation terms of a wedding reception.

Honeymoon, civil partnership and anniversary stay offer

A separate offer covers stays until 31 October 2026: 10% off the second person’s stay per night, a bottle of sparkling wine, a caftan, a bag and a cap. On half board it includes a romantic dinner for two excluding drinks, at a restaurant selected by the hotel; stays of at least four nights include a tasting bottle of infused rum. It applies only to the Best Available Rate, subject to availability, a card guarantee and a marriage or civil-partnership certificate supplied when booking and on arrival; the stay must fall within twelve months before or after the date on the certificate. This is not a discount on wedding venue hire.
