A historic mansion for events in central Arles

Hôtel de Viguier hosts private, professional and cultural receptions at 20 Rue de la Calade in Arles’ historic centre. Following an extensive restoration, its courtyard and interiors are offered for private hire. The team reviews each request according to the proposed event and its suitability for the building. Advertised uses include exhibitions, conferences, concerts, performances and showroom presentations.

A courtyard surrounded by historic stone architecture

The complex is arranged around a courtyard with a gallery and vaulted porch. Its façades feature successive levels of columns and pilasters associated with the Provençal Renaissance. A grand staircase, panelling and historic ceilings reflect the building’s different construction phases. The courtyard and indoor spaces allow organisers to discuss distinct parts of a programme, with the precise hire area agreed with the team.

The building has been listed as a historic monument since 2 March 2016, including its courtyard and well. The Ministry of Culture’s heritage record confirms the relationship between its two addresses: the early mansion faces 20 Rue de la Calade, while the eighteenth-century extension opens onto Rue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville. For current enquiries, the venue gives its entrance on Rue de la Calade.

Documented events and receptions

In July 2026, the mansion hosted the collective exhibition “Une poussière dans l’œil” from 6 to 12 July. Its programme included an opening event, a professional dinner cocktail reception on 7 July, award presentations and a closing event. These occasions demonstrate the range of cultural and reception formats actually hosted at the venue.

The programme continues with a literary performance announced for 7 November 2026 as part of the Assises de la traduction. Independent artists, collectives, galleries and public institutions can also submit projects directly to the team. Artwork presentation, circulation and staging requirements should be discussed during this review.

Planning a tailored private event

An enquiry should allow discussion of the desired format, selected spaces, date and expected attendance. The website publishes neither a venue-hire package nor a numerical reception capacity. The heritage tour limited to twenty people in September 2026 was a specific guided visit; it does not establish private-event capacity. Pricing, furniture, technical requirements and catering arrangements should be clarified with the team for the agreed project.

Public-event opening times and ticket prices are specific to each organiser. They do not determine the hours or cost of a private reception. The quotation should therefore clarify the applicable services and conditions, taking account of the heritage spaces and the venue’s calendar.

History and contact details

The original mansion was built in the early seventeenth century. Jacques de Viguier became its owner in 1731, and extensions from 1760 added a residential wing, grand staircase and panelled apartments.
