Hikâyenizi kutlayacağınız bir ortam
Tanıtımın tamamı
The Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Library welcomes visitors at 20 rue Mirès in Marseille’s Arenc district. It shares the Gaston-Defferre Departmental Archives and Library building, opened in 2006 and designed by Corinne Vezzoni and associates. The site brings together spaces for knowledge, discovery and cultural activities within the Euroméditerranée area.
The institution has a 168-seat auditorium and a 250-square-metre exhibition hall. These spaces support a year-round programme of performances, talks, screenings, meetings, workshops and exhibitions. The forecourt and reading garden also contribute to the cultural life of the venue. The auditorium provides an indoor setting for scheduled gatherings, while the other spaces accommodate presentation and mediation activities according to the programme. Each area has its own purpose and arrangements.
The Departmental Library also acts as a resource and advisory centre for local libraries. It supports a network of 96 establishments and organises staff training. Its activities therefore connect public visits with professional exchanges concerning reading and cultural projects developed alongside municipalities and their partners. This institutional role is part of the venue’s identity and shapes the proposals delivered on site.
The Current Affairs Room offers multimedia resources and workshops, particularly concerning digital skills. It welcomes individual visitors and groups, including school parties and leisure centres. The departmental Micro-Folie adds a digital museum, a Fab-Lab, a virtual reality area, a games library and a performance space to these cultural resources.
For a group visit or cultural meeting proposal, contact the Departmental Library team. Provide the preferred date, number of participants, intended audience and outline content so that suitable arrangements can be discussed. Public cultural programming is advertised as free and open to everyone; admission conditions depend on the individual activity. The 168-seat figure applies specifically to the auditorium. Any partnership or use of spaces should be confirmed directly with the institution before dates and arrangements are finalised.
