Hiring Château de Commarin for a wedding in Burgundy

Château de Commarin expressly offers its former stables for weddings and receptions. The property is in Commarin, Côte-d’Or, within a historic estate surrounded by a moat and park. The published offer distinguishes two options: a reception in the Stables and, when that capacity is insufficient, a marquee in the park on the south façade side. These are different layouts and their capacities must not be added together.

The Stables: 270 m² for 200 to 250 people

The Stables provide 270 m² and have an official advertised capacity of 200 to 250 people. The page does not specify the table plan, dance-floor allowance or separate seated and standing limits, so these details must be confirmed for the actual event. The published hire period runs from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. Each additional started hour after 4 a.m. is advertised at €150.

The hirers undertake the decoration. Tables and chairs are not included. An adjoining room is available for the caterer, and visitor toilets may be used. The château is illuminated at night and guests may walk freely in the park. If required, the Pavillon Neuf is advertised at no extra charge for the drinks reception. Published electrical power is 18 kW; the caterer’s, DJ’s, lighting and possible heating loads must be allocated and approved before the wedding.

Marquee option in the park

When the Stables are too small, a marquee may be installed in the park in front of the south façade. The official page uses the phrase “unlimited capacity”, but this is not a substitute for a safety limit: marquee size, circulation routes, exits, toilets, power and permits all require a contractual capacity. Marquee and furniture hire and installation are the hirers’ responsibility. The Stables can then host the drinks reception and the owner supplies electricity to the agreed marquee location.

Catering, wine and organisation

The couple may choose their caterer. The adjoining catering room does not guarantee any particular professional equipment: refrigeration, cooking, washing-up, water, available power and delivery access must be detailed with the venue and supplier. Wines from the Château de Commarin selection may be served, but no current drinks package, corkage fee or bottle price is published. Menus, allergies, dietary requirements, children’s meals, cake and service therefore remain to be arranged separately.

The venue recommends a security dog handler for the couple’s and guests’ peace of mind. Event-organiser insurance is required. Cleaning must be completed before 10 a.m. the following morning; the château advertises an optional €150 cleaning service, to be reconfirmed in the contract. Breakdown, waste removal, park reinstatement and supplier responsibilities must fit this deadline.

Parking and nearby accommodation

Parking is opposite the château. The reviewed page does not state a number of spaces, adapted parking bays, charging points or shuttle arrangements. There is a municipal gîte in the village, and the château notes hotels and guest houses within 8 km. This accommodation is not presented as included in the hire, and its capacity or availability is not guaranteed by the venue.

Rates: request a current quotation

The page shows €1,890 for the Stables, but expressly labels it “2016 price”; it must not be treated as a current rate. It also shows €1,990 for the outdoor area without a tariff year. In both cases, a dated quotation is essential to confirm the current price, taxes, booking payment, security deposit, cancellation terms, exact inclusions and supplements. Catering, drinks, furniture and accommodation are not included by default.
