Château de Vollore

A wedding in the home of La Fayette’s descendants

Château de Vollore hosts receptions and weddings on rue du Château in Vollore-Ville, Puy-de-Dôme. Its official website expressly offers a wedding package with exclusive use of the château for two reception days, furniture comprising tables and chairs, and all five bedrooms. The estate combines a Romanesque keep, historic buildings and terraced grounds overlooking the Auvergne mountains, Dore and Limagne plains. It is the lived-in home of La Fayette’s descendants: events must respect the collections, antique furniture and reserved areas. Seminars, concerts, exhibitions and private receptions are also documented.

Rooms and capacities, without adding layouts

The official French page advertises the former guards’ room for 80 to 100 seated guests, with exclusive use of the grounds and terraces and no advertised time limit. Its English version retains French wording mentioning 150 seated: the French 80–100 figure is prioritised and the final layout requires approval. A Route historique des Châteaux d’Auvergne brochure also states up to 100 people. A commercial presentation details the Salles des Gardes at 150 m², with 250 standing or cocktail guests, 200 in a general seated layout, 150 banquet-style, 200 theatre-style, 100 classroom-style and 50 U-shaped. Those older layouts do not replace the current official dining capacity. The Hall and Dining Room are advertised together at 150 m² for 200 standing guests, with no published seated capacity. Neither the two spaces nor the commercially advertised 300 m² are added together to invent an overall capacity. A 300-person outdoor figure appears elsewhere without current official validation.

Outdoor spaces, furniture and equipment

The medieval rooms open at ground level onto a large panoramic terrace; terraced gardens provide further reception space. Tables and chairs are expressly included in the wedding package, without a quantified inventory. Grounds, shared spaces, the outdoor pool and synthetic-grass tennis court are documented for overnight guests, not automatically as exclusive wedding facilities. A commercial presentation mentions a flipchart, DVD player, computer, marquee and helipad: reconfirm availability, condition, cost and permissions. Free Wi-Fi is advertised in all five accommodation units. General inclusion of crockery, table linen, sound and lighting, screen, DJ, heating, air conditioning, security staff or end-of-event cleaning is not established. A garden ceremony, tent installation and wet-weather backup for all guests require approval; no published safety plan guarantees those layouts.

Catering, drinks and planning

A commercial presentation states that no caterer is imposed and entertainment and decoration can be chosen freely; confirm those freedoms in the current contract. The official food services consulted chiefly concern breakfast for overnight guests. Selected restaurants within 8 to 12 km can be reserved to suit the group; this is not an included wedding restaurant at the château. No current reception menu, dietary or allergen provision, children’s price, brunch or priced drinks package is published. Confirm corkage, own drinks, service, kitchen access and cake charges. The two-day package does not itself fix setup time, included nights, caterer access or dismantling. The advertised absence of a time limit does not remove noise, neighbourhood and safety obligations.

Five bedrooms and suites with distinct features

The Blue Marie-Louise, Comtesse de Pusy La Fayette apartment is on the ground floor: 75 m² with bedroom, boudoir, bathroom and toilet, a 155 cm double bed and an optional extra bed at €50. The official page displays €300 for two people and one night, including services and breakfast. The Green Émilie, Comtesse de La Fayette room, on the first floor, measures 20 m² with a 140 cm bed, walk-in shower and toilet; the displayed price is €150 for one person and one night. The Yellow Mathilde de La Fayette suite, also on the first floor, comprises entrance, bedroom, bathing salon, shower room, toilet and dressing room across 60 m². Its 180 cm bed comprises two 90 cm beds with electric bases; €250 is displayed for two people and one night, with an optional extra bed at €50.

Pink room, Adrienne suite and 2026 rates

The Pink Julie de La Fayette room is on the second floor: entrance, bedroom, bathroom and toilet across 28 m², two 90 cm beds or one 180 cm bed, refrigerator and kettle. Displayed prices are €180 for one person or €200 for two per night, including services and breakfast. The Adrienne, Marquise de La Fayette suite, on the second floor, measures 65 m²: entrance, main bedroom, bathroom, shower and toilet, secondary duplex bedroom and dressing room. It has two 90 cm beds in the main room and two more in the secondary room; displayed nightly prices are €250, €300 or €350 for two, three or four people, with services and breakfast. These official pages specify no tariff year. The tourism listing updated on 23 July 2026 advertises, for 1 April to 15 November 2026, one person from €180, two from €200 to €300, three from €300 to €350 and four from €350, including visitor tax. Clarify the difference from the Green room’s €150 without inventing a discount. A commercial overall capacity of ten beds does not necessarily match optional beds and the four-person suite: request the contractual allocation without adding supplements into a guaranteed total.

Wedding budget, payment and conditions

Official hire and wedding packages require a quotation. A starting price of €3,000 appears commercially without a year, taxes or detailed scope: it is not a firm offer covering two days and five bedrooms. Per-person or nightly bedroom prices are never used as wedding prices. Card, bank transfer and cash are advertised for receptions; the 2026 accommodation listing also includes cheques. Wedding advance payment, security deposit, instalments, cancellation, staffing, cleaning and overtime are unpublished. An older agency condition charging one night for cancellation within a week or no-show concerns accommodation and must be reconfirmed, not applied to the wedding contract. The quotation should specify current room availability, private-hire duration, taxes, options and pool and tennis rules.

The current tourism listing locates the venue at 45.786488, 3.597001, cross-checked against the château location rather than the helipad farther southeast. Private parking is confirmed without an official count: commercially advertised figures of 200 on site and 100 three minutes away require confirmation. Commercial information states no reduced-mobility access; a ground-floor Blue room does not prove a fully accessible route. Confirm access to first- and second-floor rooms. From the A89, follow the Thiers exits and D7 towards Vollore-Ville according to the official route, approximately fifteen minutes from the motorway. Thiers station is 14 km away and Clermont-Aulnat airport forty minutes away; driving times are indicative. Summer sightseeing hours and €5 tickets are not wedding terms. The published 2026 bedroom season runs from 1 April to 15 November, while an older advertisement states year-round opening: confirm out-of-season requests.
