Um cenário para celebrar a história de vocês
Apresentação completa
The Alcazar Library stands at 58 cours Belsunce in central Marseille, near La Canebière. Built on the site of the former music hall, it continues the address’s cultural history through public reading, shared knowledge and meetings. The current library building has welcomed visitors since 2004.
Its auditorium, conference room and exhibition room are regularly identified in the municipal libraries’ programme. They host screenings, talks, discussions and cultural presentations. Events bring together librarians, researchers, artists and institutional partners. The Alcazar therefore provides a city centre setting for discovering documentary films, listening to speakers and taking part in discussions concerning art, history and knowledge. The public programme is the starting point for understanding how its different spaces are used.
Marseille’s 2026 cultural programme confirms this range of activities. As part of the Mediterranean Season, talks and a film about Lebanon were announced in the conference room, alongside an exhibition of historic photographs. The European Archaeology Days also included a documentary screening in the auditorium. These examples reflect the venue’s contemporary cultural role and its links with educational and institutional events.
Accessible entry for visitors with reduced mobility is identified for the auditorium. Tram routes T2 and T3 serve the Belsunce-Alcazar stop, while Colbert, Vieux-Port and Noailles metro stations provide other public transport options. The Centre Bourse car park is nearby.
Contact the library reception to discuss a cultural proposal, possible partnership or group visit. The team can explain arrangements for the intended format, availability and access. Public events follow the published programme, with free entry or advance registration depending on the activity and subject to available places. The Alcazar is listed here for its cultural spaces and programmed activities. Requests to use municipal rooms require discussion with the relevant team; each project should be assessed through that process before dates or arrangements are confirmed.
