A wedding at Floreffe Abbey

Above the Sambre in Floreffe, the abbey offers several rooms for weddings, private parties and seminars in a historic complex that includes the mill-brasserie. Hire covers the spaces specified in the agreement, without automatic exclusive use of all buildings. Heritage visits and school activities remain separate services. Rooms and capacities by layout

Official pages detail: Cellar, 108 m², 40 seated or 60 standing; Barn, 276 m², 300 seated or 500 standing, described as suited to fine weather; Mill room on the ground floor with bar, 166 m², 120 seated or 200 standing; Fireplace room below the mill, 105 m², 40 seated or 100 standing. The former Stables, opening onto the main courtyard and hanging gardens, list 40 m², 50 seated or 100 standing; this high density requires layout approval.

The Landoir comprises four small connecting rooms and a bar over 226 m², listing 150 seated or 300 standing. A specialist Barn presentation instead gives 150 places at round or rectangular tables and 300 for cocktails; these layouts differ from official maxima and must not be added together. Have dinner, dance-floor and wet-weather arrangements approved. The abbey church lists around 250 bench seats for cultural uses respecting the monument; this is not a wedding banquet capacity.

Kitchen, drinks and equipment

Rooms are hired with tables and chairs. Standing tables and trestle tables with benches can be supplied. The mill kitchen and tableware are available to hire; a mobile kitchen may also be installed. The owner allows choice of sound system, caterer and wines but requires the abbey to handle the brewery side: specify beer supply, prices and service in the agreement. This freedom does not guarantee a corkage exemption or absence of technical conditions.

A specialist profile lists a projector, screen, parking, courtyard, terrace, garden, food-truck space and cleaning at extra cost. Confirm availability for your reserved room. The Mill-Brasserie also offers local food; ordinary visitor meals, bread, cheese and beer are not an included wedding menu. Agree children’s menus, dietary requirements, allergens, drinks and brunch with your chosen provider.

Prices and booking

An undated specialist Barn reference advertises hire from €250 depending on the event. This indicative figure was checked on 26 October 2026, with no duration, tariff year or VAT stated; it is neither a per-person menu nor a guaranteed current wedding package. Energy charges and mobile bar and kitchen are on request; cleaning is listed as extra. No detailed official reception tariff was found: obtain a current euro quotation specifying spaces, duration, season, inclusions, taxes and extras.

Booking deposit, security bond, payment schedule, cancellation, music hours and hand-back times are not published on the hire pages consulted. Mill-brasserie and visitor opening hours do not set your party’s finishing time. No wedding accommodation is confirmed in this offer: arrange overnight stays separately. Confirm accessibility, adapted toilets, drop-off, parking and wet-weather arrangements for each room; do not assume uniform accessibility across a multilevel historic site.

Parking is listed in a specialist presentation; private ownership, reserved spaces and capacity are not confirmed.
