An event venue in the former quarries of the Alpilles
In Les Baux-de-Provence, Carrières des Lumières brings art into private celebrations and corporate events. The site occupies former limestone quarries in the Val d’Enfer, within walking distance of the village. Its stone surfaces host digital exhibitions accompanied by music, creating an immersive introduction to a drinks reception, gala dinner, product launch or family celebration.
Three spaces and several event formats
The Dante projection space covers 3,000 m². The open-air Picasso courtyard provides 750 m², while the covered Cocteau space offers 450 m² for receptions. The 2026 event brochure gives gala capacities of up to 350 seated guests and 700 for a cocktail reception. The final layout and guest capacity are agreed with the venue team for the selected format.
After public opening hours, a one-hour private visit combines a personal welcome, an immersive screening and champagne or a soft drink. Longer events continue in the reception areas. Daytime reservations can also be arranged for a photo shoot, lunch or presentation, with designated spaces reserved for the event while the visitor route remains open to the public.
Projections, suppliers and planning
The current exhibition can be complemented with personalized visual content, including a logo, photographs, film, a slideshow or a digital backdrop. The team can help develop a sequence, prepare the images and soundtrack, and integrate them into the projection system. This provides possibilities for both brand presentations and private celebrations.
Catering, furniture and technical services must be arranged through the site’s approved suppliers. The gala format runs until 1 am, with a possible lounge-format extension subject to conditions. Setup arrangements, lighting and sound requirements are planned in advance. Carrières des Lumières is a cultural reception venue; overnight accommodation is arranged separately with hotels and other properties nearby.
Published price guidance
The 2026 classic private visit is listed at €49 excluding VAT per person, with a minimum invoice of €1,000 excluding VAT. The four-hour Soirée Privilège has a venue hire price of €4,100 to €5,600 excluding VAT depending on the period, for up to 150 guests; larger groups incur an additional charge. Food and other services are extra. Gala and daytime bookings are quoted individually.
Travel and comfort
The entrance is on Route de Maillane. The venue is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility; the projection room stays cool at around 14–16°C. Paid municipal parking is available nearby. The quarries are less than a ten-minute walk from the village, approximately 15 km from Arles and 30 km from Avignon. The TGV stations at Avignon and Aix-en-Provence provide rail access for visiting groups.
