Château Coudray-Montpensier

A wedding in Seuilly, near Chinon

Château Coudray-Montpensier offers space hire for weddings, birthdays and family celebrations, and also hosts seminars and meetings. Near Chinon and La Devinière, its historic architecture, formal French gardens and vineyard provide the reception setting. The official vineyard covers 34 hectares in the Chinon appellation; this is not the area of the gardens reserved for your event.

Rooms and layouts

According to the official website, the Écuries room measures 200 m² and accommodates up to 180 seated guests. Air-conditioned, adaptable and naturally lit, it can host dinner and dancing. An optional 240 m² marquee is advertised for up to 200 guests. The official FAQ describes a combined room-and-marquee layout for up to 350 seated guests: this limit depends on the booked plan and is not calculated by adding the individual capacities.

Charles VII, with its dark floor, measures 150 m² and advertises 30–90 people in the seminar offer; Latécoère, with terracotta flooring and exposed beams, measures 80 m² for 20–70 people. All are described as naturally lit. These business-event figures are not guaranteed wedding-dinner capacities. Commercial publications give the Écuries 220 m² and up to 360 seated or 500 standing with the marquee: current official figures take priority. No overall room capacities are added together.

Gardens, ceremony and equipment

The gardens are offered for symbolic ceremonies, drinks receptions and photographs. Agree the reserved areas and wet-weather alternative; two additional rooms are documented as optional. Fireworks appear among the official options, with arrangements, provider and permissions to be agreed. Tables and chairs are documented commercially; an indication of 200 chairs and 100 armchairs needs reconfirmation. Advertised seminar equipment includes a projector, screen, pencils, paper and coffee machine. Specify wedding sound, DJ, tableware, linen, marquee heating, decoration, cleaning and security in the quotation.

Catering and drinks

The château does not provide on-site catering according to its FAQ, but permits an outside caterer and can recommend providers. A fully equipped kitchen is presented for private receptions. Caterer, photographer and music choices are not imposed. The château can supply a list of wedding planners; it does not itself provide event coordination.

Commercial information allows an outside cake without a surcharge and guests’ own drinks without corkage, subject to the current contract. The estate helps select food-and-wine pairings using Chinon, Vouvray, Crémant de Loire and Cheverny wines. No meal price is confirmed here: menus, included drinks, dietary needs, allergies, children, brunch and service depend on the caterer and written proposal.

Two separate accommodation offers

Écuries hire officially includes a sleeping area with 45 beds in seven family rooms and a dormitory. The official sleeping-area page specifies up to five people per room, making 35 places, plus ten in the dormitory, which welcomes both children and adults. Separately, three château buildings offer fourteen rooms for 31 people: twelve doubles of 54–110 m² with king-size beds, a 103 m² triple with a king-size and single bed, and a 92 m² quadruple with a king-size and double bed. Air conditioning, dressing table, towels, bathrobes, coffee machine and kettle are advertised.

These 31 suite places do not replace the 45 sleeping-area places and are not assumed to be included in venue hire. The seminar offer separately advertises 66 people in suites and family rooms without specifying how the dormitory is treated: confirm an inventory by space. Suite breakfast is extra, delivered without service. An accessible room can be booked by contacting the team. Pets are not accepted according to the FAQ; discuss specific access needs directly.

Prices, duration and booking

The official website uses quotations. A commercial publication updated in August 2026 lists hire at €5,700–€9,000. Its FAQ nevertheless retains a €5,500 room-and-45-bed package, with options of €1,000 for the marquee, €1,000 for a dark-floor room and €500 for a terracotta-floor room. Another offer describes €5,500 including the room, 45 beds and cleaning from Friday 17:00 until Sunday evening. These indications conflict and are not current contractual prices.

Older commercial layouts advertise room-only hire at €3,000 including VAT, room plus marquee at €4,200 including VAT, and smaller rooms at €500 or €1,000 including VAT, without an established comparable duration. These have different scopes and are never meal or suite prices. Confirm service year, season, duration, taxes, spaces, setup, breakdown and options in the quotation. A commercial payment schedule states one third at booking, one third one month before and the balance on key handover on Friday from 17:00; written confirmation is required. A security deposit, cancellation, postponement and music times are not published in a current official wedding offer. The website’s general terms primarily concern the booking service and do not replace an event contract.

Address: 1 Route du Coudray, 37500 Seuilly. Secure parking officially has 70 spaces. Chinon station is advertised at 8 km and Tours airport approximately 50 minutes away by car. The website mentions bus route 115: check times and the stop for your date. Check accessible routes, toilets and each room during the pre-booking visit required by the château.
