A wedding on the Bouges estate

In Indre, Château de Bouges offers its orangery for weddings and other spaces for cocktails, dinners and receptions. The estate is managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux. The pale-stone house, formal gardens and landscaped park provide a heritage setting; your booking must specify the rooms and grounds available rather than assuming exclusive use of the entire monument.

Orangery, halls and smaller spaces

The Orangery measures 224 m² and the owner advertises up to 224 seated or 448 standing, with main room, catering office, cloakroom and courtyard. A specialist profile lists 220 seated and 400 standing: have your actual layout, dance floor and exits approved. The room is offered throughout the year. An adjoining kitchen, facilities, tables and chairs are mentioned; ask for the inventory and installation conditions.

The halls comprise three adjoining rooms: games room, staircase hall and entrance hall, totalling approximately 127 m². The owner lists 100 seated or 200 standing and describes them as a cocktail venue or wet-weather alternative. The 62 m² dining room seats 25 in the official tariff, compared with 30 in a specialist table. The 160 m² stables are listed for 40 seated or 80 standing in that tariff, despite conflicting specialist figures. Capacities must not automatically be added together.

The English-style park and formal French gardens can host drinks receptions. The owner describes an 80-hectare estate, while other presentations state 85: specify the hired area. An outdoor listing without a guest limit does not constitute unlimited safety capacity. Marquees, ceremonies, lighting, weather arrangements and garden protection require approval.

Official reference prices dated 2023

The official 2023 tariff, still linked on the website when checked on 26 October 2026, states minimum prices that may change with the event. The Orangery starts at €1,500 excluding VAT / €1,800 including VAT for eight daytime weekday hours; an evening from 18:00 to 06:00 starts at €2,000 excluding VAT / €2,400 including VAT. The weekend package, Saturday 18:00–06:00 and Sunday 10:00–17:00, starts at €3,000 excluding VAT / €3,600 including VAT. Preparation and dismantling are included within those hours.

The same historical tariff lists: park for eight hours from €500 excluding VAT / €600 including VAT; stables for eight hours, €400 excluding VAT / €480 including VAT; halls for eight daytime hours or 18:00–21:00, €1,500 excluding VAT / €1,800 including VAT; dining room 18:00–23:00, €2,500 excluding VAT / €3,000 including VAT. An eight-hour canopy is €450 excluding VAT / €540 including VAT. Opening the gates in front of the château: €450 excluding VAT / €540 including VAT per hour; overtime: €300 excluding VAT / €360 including VAT per hour. These are neither per-person menus nor overnight rates.

The tariff mentions one security attendant, cleaning and heating in the package. Reconfirm these inclusions and all prices in a current quotation specifying date, spaces, duration, VAT, options and security needs. Current official pages repeat the Orangery from €1,800 including VAT, halls at €1,800 including VAT and park from €600 including VAT without an explicit newer tariff year. Booking deposit, security bond, cancellation and payment schedule are undocumented: request the contract.

Catering and accommodation

The owner offers a caterer list; specialist documentation permits an outside caterer and does not require catering to be included. Confirm approval, catering-office use, deliveries, tableware, staffing, children’s meals, dietary requirements, drinks and any corkage before booking suppliers. No priced wedding menu has been established. Specialist documentation offers no on-site accommodation: book overnight stays separately nearby.

Access and accessibility limitations

Official address: 15 rue du Château, 36110 Bouges-le-Château. Approach via the A20 Vatan exit then D2; from Valençay via D37, or from Châteauroux via D956 towards Levroux then D2. The monument names Neuvy-Pailloux station; arrange the final transfer. Free parking is opposite the estate, approximately 100 metres from the entrance, not necessarily in the reception courtyard. A directory lists 150 spaces; confirm availability on your wedding date.

The heritage château is not wheelchair accessible without assisted negotiation of the entrance steps. Parts of the park and gardens are accessible, with earth paths and a gravel courtyard; visitor toilets are listed as unadapted. A specialist presentation describes the Orangery as accessible for guests with mobility difficulties despite a negative general flag: check the room, toilets, drop-off and routes individually. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome. Public rules prohibit smoking on the site and close gardens during weather alerts; clarify how these apply to your reception.

How are reviews verified?
  1. An account with a verified email address

The author posts from their wedding account using a confirmed email address. Their email address and contact details are never displayed in the review.

  2. A collaboration confirmed before the event

The client and the professional must have confirmed their collaboration on VENUIVO before the event date. Simply adding a favourite or requesting a quote is not enough.

  3. A review after the event

A review can only be published after the scheduled date for a confirmed collaboration that has not been cancelled. Only one review may be published per collaboration.

  4. The same rules for all reviews

Positive and negative reviews are assessed using the same criteria. Abusive or promotional content and content containing private contact details are rejected. Reviews can be reported, and the professional can respond.

These checks make reviews more reliable. They confirm the collaboration process on VENUIVO; the assessment remains the author’s own.
