A château hotel for your wedding in Biras

Between Brantôme, Bourdeilles and Périgueux, Château de la Côte hosts weddings in a château with origins dating to the 15th century. The Guillaume family has organised receptions since 1984. The property combines hotel rooms, reception outbuildings, a restaurant, gardens and a park advertised as eight hectares. Exclusive use may be arranged for a day, a weekend or a longer stay, with a contact person to help plan your event.

Two arrangements are available: the château’s catering with room services, or venue hire with an external professional caterer of your choice. Hire, meals, accommodation, ceremony and extras do not automatically form an all-inclusive package. Prices below come from official documents checked on 12 October 2026: their validity year is not explicitly stated. Confirm availability, season and services in a written quotation.

Rooms, capacities and layouts

Room Area in the brochure Advertised seated capacity
Les Écuries 195 m² 60–216
Le Chai 145 m² 40–120
Salle Voûtée des Gardes 100 m² 30–70
Salle Boisée 50 m² 35
Salle de l’Évêque 45 m² 30
La Serre 60 m² 30–70

Les Écuries and Le Chai connect and officially total 340 m²; one layout places the cocktail reception in Le Chai and dinner in Les Écuries. Exposed stone, timber frames, marble floors and large carriage doors characterise these outbuildings. Les Écuries has five large glazed openings towards the château and courtyards. The vaulted Salle des Gardes is in the basement; the other main rooms are on the ground floor. The upper children’s room in La Serre is separate from its 60 m² space, measures 35 m² and provides a television and DVD player. The Duc lounges, boudoir and terrace offer further settings; their event capacities are unspecified. The restaurant terrace advertises 20 covers.

Confirm capacities for your actual layout: the website advertises up to 280 people overall, but Les Écuries is described as 216 seated in the brochure and 220 seated / 280 cocktail in an official table. Le Chai also appears as 140 m², 130 seated and 170 cocktail; Les Gardes as 70 seated, 100 cocktail and 80 in wedding layout, with text mentioning up to 90; and L’Évêque as 35 m², 25 seated and 40 cocktail. La Boisée lists 40 cocktail guests. Do not add these capacities or treat 280 people as a guaranteed seated dinner in one room. The five main rooms, La Serre and the children’s lounge account for differing descriptions of five to eight spaces and 540 to 675 m².

Ceremony, reception and equipment

A symbolic ceremony may take place in the park, lime-tree avenue, lawn, courtyard or vaulted Salle des Gardes. A €300 preparation package covers your layout, arch, lectern, lighting, clearing and cleaning. Up to 180 white chairs are offered at €3 each, including setup and removal. Le Chai provides a wet-weather alternative for the drinks reception; outdoor dinners and any marquee must be agreed separately.

The outbuilding inventory lists 11 cocktail tables measuring 183 × 76 cm, 20 round 185 cm tops for eight to twelve guests, twelve rectangular 240 × 90 cm tops for eight to ten, 28 trestles and 187 straw-seat chairs. Setup to your plan is included in the described hire arrangement. Garden furniture, standing tables and night lighting are advertised. Three toilets, including an accessible WC, and two washbasins serve the rooms. La Serre’s 60 m² catering preparation area provides water, 220/380 V power, service access and separate parking: verify refrigeration, cooking facilities and supplied equipment, as it is not described as a fully equipped kitchen.

Dancing may follow dinner. DJs, bands, professional sound and lighting are offered through providers or equipment hire, without automatic inclusion. Wi-Fi, projector, screen, microphone, flipchart and meeting equipment are advertised according to the service booked. Heating for both rooms is an optional €450 including VAT. Reception-room air conditioning, included childcare and permitted sound levels are unspecified.

Hire with an external caterer: separate charges

Period Event meal: Saturday/holiday Weekday Breakfast before/after Brunch/lunch before/after Dinner before/after
August and December 4 400 € 3 900 € 450 € 700 € 1 000 €
June, July, September 3 800 € 2 900 € 400 € 600 € 800 €
April, May, October 3 300 € 2 500 € 350 € 550 € 700 €

Prices include VAT for use of the spaces: they are neither meal prices nor per-person charges. The validity year is unspecified; confirm occupation duration, dates and unlisted periods. The two rooms and surrounding areas are available from 8 am the previous day for decoration. The brochure provides for dancing until 4 am and removal of belongings and cleaning by noon the following day, or 6 pm with a next-day reception. A webpage states 5 am: agree the contractual closing time and extension charge in writing. Ceremony hire is a separate €300 and heating €450. Undated advertisements starting at €1,000 or €1,450, or capped at €3,400, may have a different scope; they do not replace this official grid and are not guaranteed current prices.

Food, menus, children and the next day

Catering focuses on Périgord cuisine, including duck, foie gras, truffles, mushrooms, fish and regional cheese. Tailored menus can be discussed; official pages give different chef names, so no current chef is asserted. With in-house catering, use of some rooms is advertised as included, but room service, linen, tableware, outdoor service and extras must be separately specified in the quote.

Restaurant menus: Mathis costs €35 for main and dessert, €40 for starter and main or €45 for three courses; Amandine €57 for starter, main and cheese or dessert, or €69 for four courses; Éloïse €73 for three elements or €85 for four. Petit Paul for under-twelves is €19 for main and dessert. Examples from the undated official à-la-carte document: smoked trout €20, Périgord pie €22, château salad €23, semi-cooked foie gras €33, truffled scrambled eggs €27, pan-fried foie gras €30; pork €25, duck confit with potatoes €24, cod €29, duck breast €33, halloumi and vegetables €21, beef or sweetbreads €46. Cheese €16; desserts €12–19 according to preparation. Recipes change; agree allergens and dietary requirements with the team.

The banquet brochure lists one menu for all guests at €45, or main and dessert at €35, including service: foie gras supplements €4 or €6, prawns €5, beef €4, croquembouche €4, wedding cake €6, vegetarian alternative €6, fish €18, sorbet €4.50 and cheese €9. Entertainer meal €29, children’s meal €19 with a possible €4 menu-dessert supplement. Vegan, gluten-free or medical-diet adaptations are advertised commercially but require agreement; no allergen-free guarantee is implied.

Drinks reception with beverages and five accompanying bites: two flutes of brut champagne €23/person, blanc de blancs €26, rosé €25, strawberry champagne cocktail €25, sparkling Bergerac €18, 25 cl rum-fruit cocktail €19 and children’s fruit juices €10. Extra bottles €39 or €42 according to package, sparkling wine €24. Extra items: small savoury cups €2.80, canapés €1.80 (cheeseburger supplement €1.50), vegetables €2.50/person; fruit display €110 for approximately 50–70; ham station €260 for 80–100, foie gras station €320 for 50–70; skewers €2–5.50 depending on recipe. Agree quantities and inclusions in the contract.

Next-day meals: breakfast €17/adult and €10/child; brunch €29/€15; plancha meal with dessert €27/person; Périgord buffet including Bergerac wine and coffee €34/€17. Advertised times are respectively 9–10.30 am, 10.30 am–noon and lunch 12.30–2 pm; plancha may also be offered 7–8.30 pm. Another brochure lists breakfast for up to 70 guests from 8.30–10.30 am, rather than 50 in the banquet brochure. Late-night buffets: fruit €9, cheese €12, charcuterie/quiche/pizza/cheese €21/person, minimum forty; macarons €150/100 or €387/250; croquembouche €345/80 pastries or €860/200. None of these extras is assumed included by default.

Drinks, service and corkage

The wine list features white, rosé and red Bergerac, Pécharmant, Monbazillac, Rosette, Saussignac, Montravel and champagne. The detailed undated selection, checked in October 2026, lists Bergerac wines from €29/bottle, half-bottles €22–27, vintages from 2011 to 2023 and champagnes €54–240; vintages do not establish the price-list year. The banquet brochure also lists wines from €19, brut champagne €41 and blanc de blancs/rosé €44: request the list applicable to your contract.

Draught beer costs €390 per 30-litre keg, minimum two, including dispensing equipment and setup, or €4 per 25 cl bottle. Aperitifs €5/glass or €55/bottle; spirits with soft drinks €6/glass or €85/bottle; digestifs €90/bottle. Water €4.50/litre, juice €8/litre, soft drinks €8/1.5 litres, coffee €2.50 or coffee with petits fours €4. These prices and units remain indicative, with no stated validity year.

Bringing your own dinner wine costs €6 per adult; personal champagne carries an €18 service charge per 75 cl bottle. Room service, setup, furniture, linen, tableware, clearing and cleaning are €6/person in the catering brochure; outdoor service is also €6/person. Older pages state €2.50/adult and €1.50/child for service and €4 for outdoor service, while the external-caterer hire brochure includes furniture setup. Your quotation must specify the applicable arrangement and avoid charging twice for one service.

Accommodation: distinguish hotel rooms from holiday houses

The hotel advertises seventeen rooms and suites for a maximum of 48 people, in the château and Le Relais. The 72 m² second-floor bridal suite Les Moulineaux has a four-poster bed, sitting room and private access to the keep terrace via a spiral staircase. Non-smoking rooms, private bathrooms, television and Wi-Fi are advertised; ground-floor rooms alone do not establish access to upper floors.

The room price list is undated. July/August boundaries differ between documents: confirm the exact seasonal band. Some pages show older summer prices and slightly differing areas, notably Les Perliches. Extra single bed €25; folding bed €20; cot €15 in the wedding brochure, with quantities to confirm. Breakfast is separate at €17/adult and €10/child; half-board from three nights adds €45/€55 per adult for breakfast and a two-/three-course dinner, and €30 for under-twelves. Another menu lists €40/€50: establish the current arrangement by quotation. Pets in rooms cost €18 in the price grid versus €11 on older pages.

Three holiday houses are separate options: Le Logis no.41, 280 m², four bedrooms and nine guests, with a one-hectare enclosed park, kitchen and linen, €800 plus €300 per extra night; Vintage no.55 and Cottage no.57, approximately 120 m², two bedrooms each, advertised for six and seven guests, €450 plus €150 per extra night. The initial duration covered by these prices is unspecified. Documents give 21–22 holiday-house places and 69–70 guests including the hotel: confirm configurations and beds rather than guaranteeing seventy adults from inconsistent totals.

VAT-inclusive brochure prices for the seventeen-room/48-guest hotel, with no stated validity year. Holiday houses are described separately and are not automatically included. The brochure links exclusivity to booking accommodation: access to the property, restaurant, bar, lounges, gardens, play area, pool, aquatic facilities, Wi-Fi and staff according to agreement. Reception hire, meals and extras remain separate. Advertised duration discounts are 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 15% and 20%; some amounts do not follow a simple multiplication of the one-night rate, so rely on the quote. Two to four weekday nights with arrival Monday–Friday advertise a further 10% discount, subject to confirmation. Individual nights before/after exclusivity advertise 10% off. Guests may pay part or all of their accommodation. Brochure check-in is 4 pm and check-out 11 am; a commercial 3 pm arrival remains unconfirmed.

Advertised reception terms: €2,000 booking payment plus €500 per additional night; 50% due eight months beforehand less the initial payment, then 50% two months beforehand when services are selected; a cheque or card guarantee corresponding to the balance. Catering numbers are supplied ten days beforehand for billing, with final settlement at departure. An advertisement mentions seven months and a €500 deposit: confirm rather than substituting these for official terms. Cheque, card and bank transfer appear in the brochure.

Legal notices set separate hotel-stay terms: 30% booking payment, minimum first night; cancellation more than sixty days beforehand retains 30% of room costs/minimum first night, then 50% within sixty days; no-show or early departure 100%; promotions cannot be changed or refunded. Gift packages have a 50% payment followed by settlement at departure. These hotel terms must not automatically be applied to a wedding buyout: obtain the relevant contract, insurance details and tourist-tax information.

Access, leisure and useful contacts

Official address: 4700 route du Château de la Côte, 24310 Biras, France. Access via A89/A20 then D939 between Périgueux and Brantôme; named stations are Périgueux, Angoulême and Bordeaux, with Bergerac and Bordeaux airports. The brochure advertises three parking areas for 200 vehicles, bus parking and a helipad; a webpage describes two car parks and an advertisement 400 spaces, all to reconfirm. The map point identifies the château and is corroborated by tourism coordinates 45.29841, 0.6118; the helipad may have a different point. Confirm your route and visitor access before travelling.

Full property accessibility is not established: an accessible WC serves the banquet spaces but some rooms and bedrooms are upstairs or in the basement. Request a suitable route for each guest. Residents are offered a twelve-metre outdoor pool, pétanque, volleyball, table tennis and relaxation areas; a five-person spa, four-person sauna and massages require separate clarification, with wellbeing-space access advertised at €90/hour. External activities—ballooning, canoeing, riding, golf, cycling and historic sites—are not all on site or included. Pool use, children, pets, decoration, regulated fireworks, cleaning, hours and overtime must be specified in the contract.

How are reviews verified?
  1. An account with a verified email address

The author posts from their wedding account using a confirmed email address. Their email address and contact details are never displayed in the review.

  2. A collaboration confirmed before the event

The client and the professional must have confirmed their collaboration on VENUIVO before the event date. Simply adding a favourite or requesting a quote is not enough.

  3. A review after the event

A review can only be published after the scheduled date for a confirmed collaboration that has not been cancelled. Only one review may be published per collaboration.

  4. The same rules for all reviews

Positive and negative reviews are assessed using the same criteria. Abusive or promotional content and content containing private contact details are rejected. Reviews can be reported, and the professional can respond.

These checks make reviews more reliable. They confirm the collaboration process on VENUIVO; the assessment remains the author’s own.
