A setting to celebrate your story

A wedding in the Fribourg countryside
In Essert, within the municipality of Le Mouret, Château de la Grande Riedera hosts weddings, banquets and private celebrations in a historic estate with a manor house, former stables, courtyard and gardens. Its offer combines a large attic hall with smaller spaces. For your wedding, establish which buildings, outdoor areas and bedrooms are reserved: the estate’s general presentation does not itself guarantee exclusive use of every space.
Salle des Fêtes: dinner and drinks
The Salle des Fêtes occupies 150 m² in the manor’s attic. The website advertises approximately 100 banquet guests and 150–200 for drinks; these are alternative layouts. Listed furniture includes round and rectangular tables, upholstered chairs and a plate warmer. The page refers to both 90 and 100 chairs, so confirm the actual supply and seating plan. The second-floor kitchen has a dishwasher, refrigerator, oven and hob.
Gardens, chapel and smaller spaces
The north and south gardens have lawns, pools and trees for outdoor drinks advertised for up to 200 people, subject to weather and the area reserved. The private chapel lists 25 places with 10 additional chairs available, at CHF 300. Agree religious or symbolic use separately; a legally recognised civil ceremony is not guaranteed. The smaller-room document covers the Poyas, Chevaux, cellars and Grenier: each layout has its own capacity, which must not be added to the manor’s.
Smaller rooms: separate areas, layouts and hire rates
The undated official brochure gives the following figures without specifying VAT. Prices are daily room hire per person, not meal packages; rooms are booked separately.
| Room | Area m² | Standing: guests / CHF per person | Seated: guests / CHF per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poyas | 90 | 60–80 / 18 | 50 / 35 |
| Chevaux | 70 | 50 / 15 | 30 / 30 |
| Cellars | 65 | 30–50 / 10 | 20–30 / 20 |
| Grenier | 35 | 20 / 15 | 10–15 / 25 |
| Musée | 60 | Unspecified | 10–20 / 25 |
| B&B dining room | Unspecified | Unspecified | 6–10 / 7 |
Listed furniture, cleaning and Wi-Fi included; access from 6 pm the previous day, return by 11 am the following day. Half-days by arrangement; extensions cost extra. Extras: flipchart or tabletop flipchart CHF 15, projector CHF 50, screen CHF 30. Garden tables and benches are free to use. These smaller-room conditions differ from the large hall’s 3 pm key handover.
Catering, menus and drinks
The château publishes a selection of accredited caterers and offers to arrange catering to suit the event. Kitchen facilities do not mean that every external caterer is automatically accepted. Confirm your supplier, deliveries, service, tableware, children’s meals, allergies and dietary needs, along with drinks, bringing alcohol and corkage. Seminar and coffee-break packages are not wedding menus. Coffee-break documents with 2023 in their filenames list three packages at CHF 8, 10 or 14 per person, morning or afternoon, with the stated 7.7% VAT included at that time. These are historical seminar prices to update, not wedding packages. The drinks-reception selection in the same series offers vegetarian choices and seasonal items but no published price; agree menus, dietary requirements and allergies separately.
Prices and hire period
The official large-hall page displays CHF 3,000, with keys available from 3 pm the previous day and return by 11 am the day after the event. The courtyard and listed equipment are included; accommodation, catering and other spaces need separate quotations. Three 3 × 3 m tents are offered at CHF 35 each and a 3 × 6 m tent at CHF 50. No pricing year or VAT basis is specified: confirm the rate for your date, cleaning, extensions, security and booking deposits, cancellation and insurance.
Staying on the estate
The manor offers three historic bedrooms; its page mentions a bathroom on the same floor and first-floor provision for guests with reduced mobility. The farmhouse B&B lists one single room, four doubles, a family suite and an eight-bed dormitory. Other summaries give different room counts, so do not infer a guaranteed total without a room-by-room allocation. Book bedrooms, private or shared bathrooms and breakfast separately from hall hire, and confirm check-in and check-out times.
Access, mobility and planning
The address is Chemin de la Riedera 10, Essert, 1724 Le Mouret, Switzerland. The manor marker, 46.732200, 7.166990, matches the building identified by heritage sources. The website indicates the Fribourg–Bulle bus via La Roche, stopping at Riedera approximately 200 m away. Check parking, coach access and routes to the attic, toilets and gardens on your visit; access to one floor does not establish access to every room. Agree music, party hours, dancing, safety around pools, wet-weather arrangements and clearing. Hall contact: info@riedera.ch, +41 79 520 54 69.
