A wedding at Château de Rixensart
In Walloon Brabant, Château de Rixensart offers hire for weddings, intimate receptions, walking dinners and business events. This historic Merode family residence is managed by the Merode-Rixensart Foundation. Four brick-and-stone wings surround an arcaded courtyard; the reception rooms retain their heritage interiors. Event bookings are separate from estate visits and performances.
Spaces, capacities and weather
The owner offers one or several reception rooms for groups of up to 50 people, without specifying seated or standing layouts or floor areas. The uncovered inner courtyard accommodates 400–500 guests depending on the event. Its galleries can shelter more than 150 people in bad weather: they are not a like-for-like wet-weather alternative for 500 guests. Have your reception layout, circulation and permitted occupancy approved before fixing guest numbers.
The courtyard has furniture, a bar, cloakrooms, toilets and catering logistics areas. The first entrance courtyard may also be used, with no published numeric capacity. Specify equipment, tableware, lighting, heating, Wi-Fi, screens, sound and possible marquee or ceremony arrangements in the quotation; these cannot be inferred from photographs.
Catering and organisation
The château works with partners while explicitly allowing your own caterer. It offers support in planning a bespoke event. Access and accommodation
Official address: Rue de l’Église 40, 1330 Rixensart, Belgium. The owner gives E411 exit 5 at Bierges and public parking opposite the entrance on Drève du Château. It places Rixensart station about 400 m away on foot via Rue des Écoles, with S8 trains and TEC buses 14, 36 and 125: check services for your wedding date. Step-free access, adapted toilets and accessible drop-off are not confirmed.
The official website presents Terraventuria overnight experiences on the estate: Defcamp in a vintage Land Rover and NaturaPirsch in a former bunker.
