A wedding in a lived-in château in Cheverny
Château de Troussay stands among the Cheverny vineyards in Loir-et-Cher. This small Loire château combines Renaissance features with nineteenth-century restoration associated with Louis de La Saussaye. Lived in by the Sainte Marie family since 1900, a listed historic building and Maison des Illustres, it offers ceremonies, weddings, cocktails, private meals and seminars across courtyards, a park and Sologne outbuildings. Arrangements are developed directly with the property around guest numbers, selected spaces and length of stay.
The information below was checked on 12 October 2026. Official pages publish prices without an explicit validity year: reconfirm your date, quotation, season, taxes and inclusions. Visitor or small-group dining offers do not automatically constitute a wedding menu for 120 guests.
Spaces and capacities
The reception room in the former wine press, within the outbuildings, officially accommodates 120 seated guests or 300 standing. These are alternative configurations. A commercially stated 130 m² area needs confirmation; a separate 2,000 m² figure does not describe this room’s floor area. One commercial table also states 300 seated: the official 120-seated capacity is retained. Theatre, classroom, U-shaped meeting and combinable capacities are not established.
The courtyard by the François Ier façade, rear courtyard by the Louis XII façade and English-style park can host outdoor moments by agreement. For small meals, the official English page names the Dining Room, Small Salon and Oval Salon. Their individual areas and capacities are unspecified. Furniture, historic interiors and access must not be treated as an empty room freely available for alteration. Symbolic ceremonies, cocktails and outdoor meals can be discussed; confirm weather backup, marquee, setup and covered capacity.
Room-only hire, wedding weekend and seminar
- Room-only hire: €900 from 11 am to 6 pm, with possible cocktails by a façade. Heating is excluded according to the meals/groups page.
- Wedding weekend: €3,900 from Friday 2 pm to Sunday 4 pm, with advertised accommodation for thirteen, cleaning included and sheets excluded. The meals page also includes château lighting.
- Seminar: a 9 am–6 pm corporate package by quotation. A separate offer, based on twenty people, starts at €80/person with breakfast, guided visit, room, lunch and three workshops.
These prices have no stated validity year. The official English page advertises fifteen guests and included sheets for the same €3,900 weekend: confirm the contract’s scope rather than guaranteeing fifteen beds and linen from conflicting text. Older undated commercial offers list €950 from 8 am–6 pm, €1,800 from 6 pm until 11 am next day, or €3,300 from Friday noon to Sunday 6 pm with fifteen beds; €990 and a €3,900–4,500 range also appear. These timings and inclusions do not replace the official French offer above.
Meals and visits: separate packages
| Package | Per person | Participants |

| Guided visit + simple picnic | €32 | From 20 |
| Visit + country picnic | €48 | 10–30 |
| Visit + hot lunch | €55 | 10–30 |

| Visit + private dinner | €80 | 10–30 |
| Visit + privileged lunch | From€120 | 20 |
| Visit + privileged dinner | From€160 | 20 |
| Owner-guided visit + substantial aperitif | €27 | From 10 |
These experiences last approximately 1.5–4 hours and use the dining room, seventeenth-century outbuildings or park by agreement. The property works with a caterer for these meals. Menu documents are hosted in the official March 2025 folder, but their price-validity year is unspecified. Simple picnic: terrine, cheese, two glasses of red/white wine, dessert, bread and accompaniments; country picnic: cheese and charcuterie, salads, unlimited wine, dessert, bread and coffee. The substantial aperitif offers six to eight farmhouse-cheese pieces per person, bites and estate wines according to season.
Hot lunch includes starter, main, cheese, dessert, unlimited wine and bread; refined lunch and private dinner add aperitifs. The privileged meal also includes a pianist. Cutlery and tablecloths are advertised for these packages; a dance performance may be arranged at an unspecified extra charge. Seasonal examples include Sologne vegetables, egg or beetroot with fresh cheese, chicken with risotto, pork with mashed potatoes, poultry with mushrooms, farmhouse cheese and a garden-fruit pavlova. Recipes change seasonally; verify allergies, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other diets, for which no guarantee is published.
The English page retains a €24 simple picnic versus €32 in French; another private visit with cold meal is listed at €34 for 10–40 people. These are not interchangeable: the quote must establish the package. Children’s charges, supplier meals and wedding brunch prices are unspecified. Commercial information refers to free choice of caterer, outside drinks and cake without surcharge, and no compulsory photographer or music supplier; confirm service, tableware, storage, cleaning and any corkage. A fifteen-square-metre catering kitchen is advertised in one description while a FAQ denies a private kitchen: check the actual equipment before booking.
Accommodation: individual rooms and prices
Rooms and cottages emphasise simple, historic, ecological stays: reused materials and furniture, small bathroom spaces sometimes behind curtains, gardens and a kitchen garden. This is not a standardised-hotel promise. Outbuilding breakfasts are simple and self-service. Capacities are not automatically added, and no accommodation is assumed included in room-only venue hire.
- La Petite Lisaudière: two guests, loft with kitchenette in a seventeenth-century farmhouse, shared 4,000 m² garden; €79–95/night by period, minimum two nights. Self-service continental breakfast, linen and towels advertised as included; pets welcome.
- Cottage Champêtre: four to five guests, two bedrooms, bathroom, separate toilet and living room with kitchenette; €220/night, minimum two nights; coffee, tea and biscuits advertised.
- Gîte Potager: eight guests, four bedrooms, living room with kitchenette, bathroom and separate toilet; integrated miniature bathrooms are also described and need clarification. €400/night, minimum two nights, cleaning and drinks/biscuits advertised.
- Arum and Pivoine: two ground-floor rooms for one or two guests each, double beds, shower, basin and toilet separated by a curtain; €90/room/night, minimum two nights, self-service continental breakfast.
- Lavande: twin beds upstairs, one or two guests, shower and integrated bathroom area; €95/night, minimum two nights, self-service breakfast.
- Laurier: double bed upstairs, one or two guests, antique bath and integrated bathroom area; €95/night, minimum two nights, self-service breakfast.
- Le Baron: top-floor château room overlooking courtyard and park; €205/night, Wi-Fi, heating and breakfast in the room between 8.30 and 9.30 am.
- Louis de La Saussaye: château room/suite overlooking the courtyard; €195/night, Wi-Fi, heating and room-served breakfast 8.30–9.30 am.
Price-validity years are unspecified, checked October 2026: confirm availability and rates. A fourteen-person arrangement is advertised at€650/night on Potager/room pages, with a two-to-four-night indication, whereas the Champêtre page retains€620. Agree the exact rooms and beds: “six bedrooms” and “four rooms plus cottages” are described differently. Do not double-count accommodation sold in overlapping packages. The French wedding offer includes thirteen places, rather than automatically all these lodgings; fifteen places in the older English page require reconfirmation.
Self-check-in for outbuildings:3–5 pm recommended in details versus 4–6 pm in some text; checkout 11 am. Château rooms: arrival 4–6 pm, checkout 11 am. The stays page lists gardens and kitchen garden totalling approximately 2,000 m²; the separate shared Lisaudière garden is 4,000 m². Upper-floor rooms, old bathroom arrangements and thresholds need checking for reduced-mobility guests. Ground-floor rooms do not establish accessibility certification.
Equipment, visits and terms to agree
Equipment may be lent on request. Commercial descriptions list round/rectangular tables, eighty chairs and candleholders, whereas another describes an unfurnished room: validate inventory and costs, especially for 120 guests. Wi-Fi, projector, whiteboard, coffee machine, microwave, printer, marquee and helipad are commercially advertised, without confirmed inclusion in every hire. Air conditioning, sound output, wedding tableware and heating cost are unspecified. A 4 am music cutoff is advertised; information on a dedicated dance floor conflicts, so inspect rather than assume.
On-site parking is commercially advertised for 45 vehicles; accessible facilities need checking across paths, rooms, toilets and accommodation. Coordinates identify the actual building:47.49137,1.4245, corroborated with the named Château de Troussay feature. Official address:12 route de Troussay,41700 Cheverny,France. Agree visitor routes and delivery access with the property.
Tourist visits are separate from an event:€12 standard,€10 reduced/groups and children agedseven or older; under-sevens free; school groups of 20 or more€6. Aperitif visit supplement€4.50/adult and€2/child according to service; another shop children’s drink is€3.50. Cold meal and visit€34 for 10–40; shop cheese/bread€9, terrine or rillettes/bread€11, glass of wine€4.50. The older leaflet refers to 2015 and is not presented as current opening hours. The homepage currently advertises 11 am–5.30 pm until All Saints; the visits page states 11 am–5.15 pm weekdays and 11 am–5.45 pm weekends. Reconfirm, especially for groups or off-season. Resident visit discounts vary: some text lists€7/person or an unspecified reduced price.
Booking payment, balance, security deposit, cancellation, postponement, insurance, guest minimum, children’s fees, security staffing, overtime, cleaning outside packages and decoration restrictions are not defined in current public offers. Bank transfer and outside drinks/cake are advertised commercially: request written terms for your arrangement, including one reception per day, exclusive areas and continued tourist visits.
