A wedding in the Alsatian woodland

In Wattwiller, Haut-Rhin, Domaine du Hirtz hosts weddings and receptions in wooded surroundings within the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, at an altitude of 550 metres. The estate combines reception spaces, accommodation, an Auberge restaurant and a Nordic Spa. A reception can be arranged with or without accommodation, as space hire or with services tailored to the event.

Spaces and layouts

The independent Chalet convivial has 180 m² of indoor space and a 200 m² covered terrace. The 110 m² Seminar Room can host a private or shared event. The Stammtisch offers 35 m² in a wood-and-stone setting, accessed from the main reception. The Cabanon provides 35 m² and a 15 m² covered terrace among the trees. The grounds, clearings and marquees can be used for an outdoor non-religious ceremony, aperitif or reception.

Indicative wedding layouts of 150 seated guests or 250 standing guests are advertised. The Chalet is also offered for receptions of up to 160 people, and its terrace for an aperitif or meal for up to 180, depending on the layout. The Seminar Room and Stammtisch are presented for groups of up to 60 and 25 respectively. These figures must not be added together: the approved capacity, reserved space, table layout and space for dancing must be confirmed with the estate.

Catering and planning

In-house or partner catering can accompany the reception. An arrangement with two partner caterers is offered in high season; the choice of provider and any catering requirement depend on the package and contract. Menus can be tailored. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or halal requirements should be discussed during planning. Service, crockery, drinks, bringing your own drinks, corkage and cake arrangements should be itemised in the quotation.

Tables and chairs, prior-day setup and planning support are advertised according to the selected arrangement. Other services and external suppliers are to be agreed. The Nordic Spa can be added to the stay as an option; full spa admission is not a general inclusion of venue hire.

On-site accommodation

The estate offers twelve 65 m² lodges and ten 19 m² studios, with an advertised total of 116 beds. Lodges accommodate two to eight people and include a kitchen, living areas and a private terrace. Two VIP lodges have a sanarium and a balneotherapy bath on an enclosed terrace; the outdoor bath is unavailable from 15 November to 15 March. Studios accommodate two adults; an additional child on an extra bed may be possible depending on the room.

Accommodation is air-conditioned and has Wi-Fi. One adapted studio is on the first floor of the main building, reached by the lift in the Stammtisch; the ground floor of one lodge is also adapted. Circulation, bathroom access and any specific equipment should be checked for each guest. Check-in starts at 16:00 and check-out is before 11:00. This is a tourism residence: daily housekeeping is not automatic, and additional services incur a charge.

Prices and options

For an initial wedding budget, indicative venue-hire figures range from €2,000 to €5,000 depending on the arrangement. Exclusive use, furniture and prior-day setup may be included. Wedding catering is indicated at €100–150 per adult, with service and crockery until 23:00 according to the proposal. These figures are not guaranteed current official rates: duration, taxes, season, guest numbers, inclusions and timings must be confirmed in a personalised quotation.

Accommodation base amounts advertised for two people until 31 December 2026 are, in low, mid, high and very high season respectively: €85 / €90 / €100 / €125 for a standard studio; €99 / €105 / €125 / €145 for a balcony studio; and €115 / €120 / €150 / €180 for a lodge. The amount applicable to the booked duration is confirmed when booking. Additional lodge guests cost €30 per person per day, up to six extra people. Tourist tax is advertised at €1 per adult per day, charged separately.

The breakfast buffet costs €15 per adult and €8 per child aged 3–12. The New Year buffet is advertised at €22 per adult and €11 per child. Residents are offered balneotherapy-pool access from 07:00 to 09:00 and 18:00 to 19:00, subject to booking and availability. Full Nordic Spa admission is offered at €35 per person for four hours, or €25 for two hours excluding Saturdays and Sundays, subject to available sessions and opening days.

The Auberge serves traditional or reinterpreted regional cuisine. Its main dining room seats 80; other dining spaces are separate. Groups of fifteen or more can be welcomed seven days a week by prior booking, including regular closure days. As restaurant meals, the weekday menu is advertised at €18.50; the Menu des Terroirs, comprising a starter, main and dessert excluding drinks, costs €34 on the autumn menu valid until 12 November 2026. The Menu du goût costs €45 excluding drinks from 15 to 18 October 2026. These restaurant offers are separate from a wedding package.

Access and practical terms

Domaine du Hirtz is at Lieu dit du Hirtzenstein, 68700 Wattwiller. Cernay railway station is about ten minutes away; Basel-Mulhouse Airport is approximately forty to forty-five minutes away. Free private parking is available on site without reservation. Lodges have reserved parking and studios use shared parking areas. A car should be planned, as nearby public transport is limited.

Specific wedding or group terms are provided separately. Quiet is required from 22:00 to 07:00; any extended sound for a wedding requires exceptional written permission from the estate. Accommodation is non-smoking. Dogs on leads are welcome outside the Nordic Spa, with a €20 charge for the whole stay and a maximum of two per lodge or one per studio; other animals are not admitted in accommodation. Availability, included services, deposits and cancellation terms must be set out in the contract.

Approved early check-in or late check-out costs €30 per request. Extra studio housekeeping is advertised at €15 for the bathroom, towels and bed, or €25 including linen and floors. Lodge accommodation pages list €26 or €66 depending on the service, while the 2026 terms specify €65 for full cleaning; confirm the amount when ordering.
