Fondation Cherqui

A reception surrounded by kinetic art

Fondation Cherqui offers private hire of a museum at 61 rue Lécuyer in Aubervilliers, Seine-Saint-Denis. Housed in Jean Cherqui’s former laboratories, the venue presents a collection devoted to optical and kinetic art. Colour, light installations and monumental artworks create a distinctive setting for receptions close to Paris.

Spaces with their own character

The venue occupies approximately 1,000 square metres and houses a collection of around 5,000 works. Industrial volumes, installations and themed rooms make it possible to design a programme that combines art discovery with social time. The main hall is distinguished by its ceiling height, while the long gallery and Vitamin Bar area provide other possibilities for arranging the event.

The tourism office’s event information gives indicative capacities of up to 50 people in theatre layout or 90 for cocktails in the main hall. The arrangement actually offered depends on the available spaces, the artworks on display and the requested setup. The Fondation discusses seminars, cocktail receptions, private evenings and other hire projects directly with organisers.

Organisation and access

A self-guided or accompanied visit can form part of an event programme. When requesting a proposal, specify guest numbers, the date, event format, timings and any catering or activity requirements. Dining arrangements and circulation around the artworks should be agreed with the team.

The museum has a café, a cloakroom and air conditioning. Most of the visitor route is on the ground floor, although some upstairs rooms are not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility; the selected route should therefore be confirmed in advance. The nearest metro connection is Aubervilliers-Pantin Quatre Chemins on line 7. Parking immediately outside the museum is very limited, with public car parks available in the surrounding neighbourhood.
