A Creole estate for your wedding in Vieux-Habitants
Habitation L’Oiseau welcomes private events in the Grande Rivière valley, on the leeward coast of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. This former coffee estate combines a Creole house, a leafy flowering garden and river access on the property. Several weddings have been held here. The estate covers more than five hectares and retains its main house dating from 1916, a coffee-processing building known as the bonifierie, an outbuilding, a historic boucan à tiroirs drying structure and a water wheel. The house and bonifierie have been listed as historic monuments since 27 April 2016.
Reception spaces: capacity to be confirmed
The venue has a reception room and a covered outdoor event area with open sides, which can be arranged according to the event. Gardens provide a natural setting for social gatherings and photographs. Capacity depends on the chosen space and the meal or ceremony layout: confirm seated, standing and cocktail numbers with the venue before booking. Areas and included technical equipment remain to be clarified.
Accommodation and exclusive use
The house offers five bedrooms and ten sleeping places. Bookings can be made by room or for exclusive use of the entire house. Accommodation includes air conditioning, a living room with dining area and a shared garden. A 180 cm bed is listed among the comfort features; availability in your chosen room should be checked. Exclusive use of the house must not be confused with exclusive use of every space on the estate, which must be defined in the contract.
Catering and prices
Habitation L’Oiseau also organises homemade brunches with a buffet of sweet and savoury dishes and hot food. A brunch for your guests can be discussed separately with the team: availability, menu and conditions are not automatically included in a wedding rental. No current rental price or wedding package has been confirmed. Request a quotation detailing spaces, duration, rooms, catering, furniture and tableware, options and possible charges. As a separate historical reference, a brunch feature published on 10 November 2025 quoted €26 per adult and €15 per child; these older prices must be updated and do not represent venue rental or a wedding package. Prices for past one-off events are not wedding rates.
Access, arrangements and contact
The estate is on Route de Grand Rivière, 97119 Vieux-Habitants. The team communicates in French. Before booking, clarify parking and access for guests with reduced mobility, on-site ceremony conditions, caterer and supplier choice, reception finishing times and booking arrangements.
