A wedding between city and countryside in Geneva

La Ferme du Lignon hosts weddings and private receptions in Vernier, in the canton of Geneva. This family-run farm combines characterful function rooms, a garden, a courtyard and guest rooms. Its wedding arrangement brings together the large Fenière room and the Remise, allowing different parts of the day to take place in separate spaces and providing an indoor alternative for the ceremony or drinks reception.

The Fenière and Remise

The Fenière is on the first floor. Its 210 m², high roof and exposed beams provide a flexible setting, with a covered balcony and lift. Advertised wedding capacities are 180 guests seated at round tables, 200 at rectangular tables and 300 for a standing reception. Final layouts depend on furniture and space allocated to circulation, service and dancing.

Round tables, chairs, rectangular buffet tables, high tables and a cloakroom with hangers are among the equipment listed for this room. A catering preparation area is adjacent. Wi-Fi is available; the giant screen, projector and additional high tables should be specified in the proposal.

On the ground floor, the 100 m² Remise accommodates up to 65 seated guests at rectangular tables or 100 for a standing reception. It opens onto the courtyard and terrace. Tables, chairs, a sink, large professional refrigerator, two high tables, Wi-Fi and a clothes rail are advertised. The covered courtyard area has water and electricity. For weddings, the Remise is always hired with the Fenière; it can be used for drinks, entertainment or an indoor ceremony if it rains.

Ceremonies and outdoor spaces

The 600 m² garden is offered with the Fenière for ceremonies, drinks and outdoor activities. It includes a shaded area and long tables with benches. An additional 1,200 m² area can be considered. Outdoor spaces cannot be hired on their own.

From May to early October, a 450 m² courtyard marquee provides an additional arrangement for drinks receptions, garden parties or ceremonies, with an advertised capacity of up to 400. A 150 m² extension for a further 100 guests is also listed. These are separate configurations whose capacities should not automatically be added to the rooms; confirm availability, installation, furniture and safety requirements in the quotation.

Catering, drinks and options

For evening events and weddings, the farm provides a list of partner caterers. It does not provide its own event catering, except for weekday seminar lunches. A partner caterer may be required depending on the room and event. Glassware and white tableware are available; their inclusion should be itemised in the package. Table linen and napkins are arranged with the caterer or a hire supplier.

According to the estate’s FAQ, clients may supply soft drinks and spirits without a fee. The advertised corkage charge for outside wine is CHF 10 excluding VAT per bottle. The separate private-reception offer for the Remise requires estate wine and at least 18 bottles, so the exact rules for your wedding should be agreed in writing. Straw bales for outdoor use are available at CHF 10 excluding VAT each.

Prices: weddings and smaller receptions are separate

Wedding hire of the Fenière and Remise is quoted according to the date and services. The starting price of CHF 660 excluding VAT applies to the Remise for a smaller private reception, including tables and chairs; it is not a wedding package for both rooms. Wine, tableware and security are additional under that offer.

For this private reception, a security officer is required from 10 pm at the advertised rate of CHF 65 excluding VAT per hour. This package’s hire hours are 9 am to 2 am Monday to Saturday and 9 am to 9 pm on Sunday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday bookings in April–June, late August–early October and December open two and a half months ahead. Wedding-specific conditions and hours must be set out in its contract. In all cases, the party moves indoors from 10 pm.

Guest rooms on site

The estate offers upstairs guest rooms with a private shower bathroom, hairdryer, television, Wi-Fi, coffee machine and kettle. Confirm the number of rooms available and the overnight capacity of your booking. A brunch the day after the wedding can be arranged on request.

Advertised starting category prices are: 10 m² economy single attic room from CHF 120; 13 m² economy double attic room from CHF 140; 13 m² garden-view double from CHF 150; 15 m² large double from CHF 170; 19 m² large double overlooking the courtyard or garden from CHF 170; and 15 m² large double or twin from CHF 210. Dates, availability and stay conditions determine the confirmed price. A cot or extra bed for a child or teenager up to 15 is possible in certain categories on request, for a supplement.

Breakfast is advertised as a CHF 17 supplement, served from 7:30 to 9:30 am Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. The stated tourist tax is CHF 4.25 per person per night.
