A wedding on the shores of Lake Thun
In Oberhofen, Schloss Oberhofen welcomes weddings and receptions in a historic castle overlooking Lake Thun. Its rooms and terraces allow you to combine a ceremony with an aperitif reception, with formats suited to the size of your group. The venue also hosts meetings, workshops and business events.
Choose your reception space
The Sommersaal accommodates up to 80 people for a symbolic ceremony and 100 for an aperitif reception. The chapel and castle terrace welcome up to 40 people for a ceremony. The Salle Harrach provides another setting for smaller groups. Capacities vary by use; they do not all refer to a seated meal.
Book a civil ceremony
Civil weddings take place in the Sommersaal on selected dates through the Oberland West civil registry office. This layout accommodates 50 guests in addition to the couple and witnesses. Civil ceremonies are conducted in German. For catering, the castle works with its partner Restaurant Schloss Oberhofen, which should be contacted separately for a quotation.
Plan your arrival
Buses 21 and 25 serve Oberhofen Dorf from Thun, and the boat landing is next to the castle. Paid public car parks are nearby. The venue does not offer accommodation. Specify your guest numbers, spaces and timings to clarify the hire and additional services.

- Sommersaal for a symbolic ceremony: CHF 750 for 1 hour, up to 80 people. A 2-hour aperitif reception: CHF 700 for up to 50 or CHF 850 for up to 100. Setup, dismantling and cleaning cost extra (CHF 95/hour; Sommersaal flat rate CHF 190). Catering separate.
