Weddings at Château d’Havré

In Havré, within Mons in Hainaut, Château des Ducs d’Havré offers room hire for weddings, birthdays, banquets, seminars and conferences. Its booking poster advertises the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 seasons. This moated castle combines restored historic buildings, surviving ruins and flower gardens; it is not a castle hotel wholly converted to accommodation. Discuss the rooms, their current condition and guest routes with the office before booking.

Three connecting rooms, without adding capacities

The Boulangerie is advertised for 30 people, Salle gothique for 50 and Salle d’armes for 180 on the hire page. The homepage lists 179 for the latter; clarify this difference on the reception plan. Rooms can be hired separately, except the Boulangerie, or in combination. This does not mean their capacities can be added or that every layout suits a wedding with dancing. Furniture and tableware are advertised for 150 people, separately from room capacity.

Areas and detailed layouts

The table gives business-event reference capacities checked on 17 October 2026, in people, requiring approval for the planned reception. The official general figures of 30, 50 and 179–180 are not automatically dinner capacities. The Salle d’armes table lists 170 for banquets and 260 for cocktails or theatre; 260 is not presented as a general wedding capacity. Some meeting figures are unusual; request an approved floor plan and occupancy limit instead of using them to size an event.

Caterer, kitchen and drinks

Free choice of caterer and no corkage charge are explicitly advertised. Two partners are recommended, not imposed. The kitchens are described as fully equipped, with a cold room. Agree menus, staff, service, linen, preparation, clearing and cleaning with the caterer and castle. The pages consulted do not provide a priced wedding menu, drinks package, children’s price, brunch or guaranteed dietary provision; ask the selected supplier about options and allergens.

Furniture and equipment

Basic T1 furniture is advertised as available without charge. More luxurious T2 furniture, with round tables and upholstered chairs, carries an unspecified additional hire charge. Furniture and tableware are provided for 150 people; check quantities and additional requirements above that number. Wi-Fi is available. For seminars, a projector, electric screen and/or mobile screen are available on request; confirm wedding availability and any charge. Open fireplaces may contribute to the atmosphere, but this does not imply permission for candles, fireworks or unrestricted flames.

Park, gardens and wedding photographs

The dedicated garden page gives an area of 6,000 m², with roses, perennials, trees, benches, aromatic plants and an educational pollination trail. Created in 1998, open to the public since 2002 and redesigned from 2019, the gardens received the Jardin Remarquable label on 22 June 2023. The park and gardens are offered as a wedding-photo setting. Private access, opening times, an outdoor ceremony, cocktails and wet-weather arrangements must be specifically agreed; a garden does not guarantee permission for those uses.

Outdoor spaces for other events

The separate medieval or Renaissance festival offer describes a 1,936 m² courtyard, 3,722.35 m² western meadow, 1,148.4 m² eastern meadow and 1,860.82 m² park. These are reference areas for that offer, not spaces automatically included in a wedding. That page gives 7,000 m² for the gardens, while a practical-information page mentions six hectares. The figure retained for the flower gardens is the dedicated page’s 6,000 m². No total private-hire land area is inferred from the conflicting figures.

Prices, booking and conditions to agree

Hire is offered for a day or evening, by quotation. No public wedding-hire price, package duration in hours, contractual minimum spend or minimum guest count is established. Request an itemised quotation for the chosen room combination, T1/T2 furniture, tableware, kitchens, drinks, suppliers and additional charges. Advance and damage deposits, payment schedule, payment methods, taxes, insurance, cancellation, postponement, cleaning and overtime require written clarification. Any tourist-admission or children’s activity prices are not reception prices.

Timings, music and organisation

Arrival, setup, reception finish, music cutoff and dismantling times are not published in the offer consulted. Ask about sound restrictions, DJ arrangements, decorations, confetti, pets and outdoor installations. Private hire covers the spaces actually booked; whole-site exclusivity and absence of other activities are not guaranteed. Office hours differ: 9 am–4.30 pm on the hire page, 10 am–4.30 pm on Contact, and 10 am–4 pm in the footer. Telephone before visiting.

Access, parking and individual requirements

Address: rue du Château 30, 7021 Havré, Mons, Belgium. The map marks the castle at the official route coordinates, 50.4644835, 4.0392504, not central Mons. The estate advertises parking for up to 150 vehicles, to organise for the event. From Brussels or Liège: motorway towards Mons, exit 22 Mons Est, then R5 towards Havré/N538. From Tournai or Paris: Obourg exit, then R5 towards Havré/N538. Wheelchair access to rooms, toilets and garden routes is not documented; confirm individual requirements.

Accommodation, children and heritage

No room count, beds, wedding suite or included accommodation is advertised in the reception offer. Arrange accommodation separately without assuming on-site overnight stays. The castle offers school activities and medieval birthdays for children aged 7–12, described as lasting three hours; these are not childcare or activities included in a wedding. The heritage site has been listed since 1936, and the non-profit Les Amis du Château des Ducs d’Havré has worked on its restoration since 1979. Visits, cultural activities and event hire have separate conditions.
